Michelle Galvan, Accountant at Inatai Foundation, soaks in the sun on a lovely Seattle summer day.

Michelle Galvan (she/her) joins us as an Accountant. We asked Michelle 10 questions to learn more about her background, community, and how she connects to our work at Inatai.

Name:Michelle Galvan
Pronouns:  she/her
Role:  Accountant
Home:  Yakima County

1. What are three words that describe you?

Reliable, considerate, and caring.

2. What is the “long story short” of how you landed at Inatai

I learned about Inatai through our amazing Event Planner, Gabriela “Gabby” Ramos! Gabby mentioned Inatai’s great work in past conversations, so I was curious to learn more when she shared the job opening. I was more drawn to this role when I landed on Inatai’s website. Let’s just say I was blown away! I spent the rest of my afternoon that day learning about the work Inatai does for our communities in Washington and that was the moment I knew I wanted to be part of this team.

3. What excites you most about being part of Team Inatai?

What excites me most about being part of Inatai is the opportunity to be part of meaningful change across Washington. I am surrounded by passionate and dedicated colleagues who inspire me to grow. It’s exciting to know the work Inatai is doing is making a real difference in people’s lives. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

4. Tell us about the community or communities you belong to.

I belong to the Mexican American community. My roots and family have shaped who I am and how I show up in the world. My community keeps me grounded and reminds me of the importance of hard work, resilience, and unity. I’m also part of the Yakima Valley community, where I grew up and deeply value the local relationships I’ve built.

5. Inatai’s strategies are underlined by a 50-Year Vision informed by communities. What is it about your community that keeps you hopeful for the future?

In the Yakima Valley, I see people working hard for change, building connections, and wanting better for the next generation. This makes me feel so proud and hopeful for the future.

6. Finish this sentence: The Inatai value the most resonates with me is…

Racial Justice

7. What is your favorite fact about Washington?

We are known as the Evergreen state! I absolutely love the scenery we are blessed with in Washington.

8. Where is your favorite place in Washington?

Colchuck Lake is so beautiful! I love nature, water, and a good hike!

9. What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that you would recommend? Why?

I listen to a wellness and mental health podcast called, “In Hindzsight,” especially in the mornings when I’m feeling a bit off. Its calming tone and thoughtful insights help me pause, breathe, and feel more centered.

10. What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I enjoy spending time with my family and husband —traveling, attending gatherings, or just relaxing at home with takeout. In the summer, I love being outdoors, whether it’s walking, running, or soaking up the sun by a lake, river, or beach.
