Name: Hannah Marshall
Pronouns: she/her
Role:  Grantmaking Operations Program Manager
Home County:  Douglas County

1. What are three words that describe you?

Curious, enthusiastic, and open.

2. What is the “long story short” of how you landed at Inatai?

I come from a family of healthcare providers and have always felt drawn to work that helps people. I began my career in social work and care coordination at the University of Washington Medical Center after earning my degree from Washington State University. That experience opened my eyes to the inequities people face and deepened my commitment to equity and social justice. I later earned my MBA in Healthcare Management and found my way into program management at a health equity nonprofit. Wanting my work to contribute to equity and justice more broadly is what ultimately brought me to Inatai.

3. What excites you most about being part of Team Inatai?

I am excited about the culture and commitment to our communities. Building and maintaining strong, healthy relationships is incredibly important to me because we live our lives through relationships. Our communities make us stronger, and I am excited to see how Inatai contributes to that strength.

4. Tell us about the community or communities you belong to.

I am a member of the Shawnee Tribe and Cherokee Nation, and my Indigenous heritage is an important part of who I am and my values. My family has deep roots in rural agricultural communities, which has further instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility, care, and connection to the land. I am a proud Washington State Cougar for life. I find deep meaning in being a caregiver and helping others.

5. Inatai’s strategies are underlined by a 50-Year Vision informed by communities. What is it about your community that keeps you hopeful for the future?

Seeing the helpers. It’s heartening to see people come together for a common cause and lift one another up. We are all connected and it’s important that we work together to make that connection stronger.

6. Finish this sentence: The Inatai value the most resonates with me is…

The Seven Generations Principle.

7. What is your favorite fact about Washington?

Washington has one of the most diverse climates in the nation. We have rainforests and desserts within hours of each other. I love being able to explore mountains and beaches in the same day and see how those differing climates have shaped people’s way of life.

8. Where is your favorite place in Washington?

Lake Chelan. My family has been in the Chelan Valley for many generations. I have fond memories of spending my summers swimming, fishing, and taking long drives in the hills with my family.

9. What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that you would recommend? Why?

I am an avid podcast listener and one of my favorite podcasts is The Moth. I love storytelling and I think it is a very important part of human communication and connection.

10. What do you like to do when you’re not at work?

I will do most anything in the outdoors. I love to hike, swim, garden, and travel to new places. I love to dance and sing. But most of all, I love quality time with my community, family, and friends.
