Marlon Buchanan leads the strategic direction of technology across Inatai Foundation. He brings over 25 years of software architecture, management, and IT experience to this role, along with his lifelong commitment to racial justice and equity.

Building technology-based solutions for mission-driven work has been a throughline of Marlon’s career, combining his interest in making systems work with his commitment to building more just systems. Before joining Inatai, Marlon was the Senior Director of Technology and Data Services at the University of Washington Continuum College. Previously, he led business and programmatic work at Casey Family Programs, directed Independent Living Services for Washington’s Department of Social and Health Services, and taught web development at the college level.

Marlon earned an MBA and a Master of Software Engineering from Seattle University, and a bachelor’s in computer science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. When not working on technology fixes, writing books, or managing his blog, Marlon can be found at a Mariners game, looking for critters at the beach with his sons, or watching a movie with his family.
