Shaping the Future: Thurston, Pierce, King was the latest in a series of events to bring people together working across issues toward equity and racial justice in Washington. Participants envisioned a world where their communities don’t need to worry about money, where comfortable and affordable housing is plentiful, and where everyone has adequate and culturally relevant nourishment and health care.
In the words of Khurshida Begum, Executive Director & Founder of ASHHO Cultural & Job Training Center in Tumwater:
We are here to shape the future—
not dream it, build it.
Not wait for justice—make it.
Not fear the fight—lead it.
